Dar Ayniwen

Country Boutique Hotels near Marrakech, Marrakech

A sumptuous Arab-Andalusian villa hotel set in five acres of beautiful Moroccan gardens bursting with life....

Dar Ayniwen has been a Lawrence of Morocco favourite for the past 15 years.

ABOUT

Out here in the leafy Palmeraie, 15 minutes from the centre of Marrakech, the city’s souks and their exotic hurly-burly will soon seem a distant memory.  Wholly serene, Dar Ayniwen’s five-acre gardens pair lily ponds and cacti with olive, oleander and orange trees; while, inside, a gorgeous maze of arches, antiques and alcoves await if you fancy a wander.  Luxurious and a long-time Lawrence of Morocco favourite, this former home epitomises what it is to be a ‘retreat’.

ROOMS

The property has eight well-appointed suites and two rooms, each claiming its own personality and each opulently decorated with period furniture, Oriental paintings and antique carpets.  Three Royal Suites come armed with private gardens and hot tubs, too, while two detached cottages in the grounds offer extra privacy plus large bedrooms and wrap-around terraces. The Bamboo room interconnects with the La Rotunde suite for extra flexibility.

FACILITIES

The Dar’s pool is heated when necessary, and beautifully lantern-lit at night.  Rivalling it for attention are two dining rooms (one serving Moroccan food, the other European), a complimentary hammam and sauna – with great massage available in the private marble steam bath – and a large communal living room with fireplace.

MORE INFO

A private office with fax and computer is available for those unable to switch off, accompanied by free Wi-Fi throughout.  Also complimentary are transfers into town with the house driver, up until midnight (the man has to sleep, after all).  Back at base, free cooking courses are on offer to guests staying four nights or more.

If you are looking for true relaxation in the palm groves of Marrakech, with easy access to the excitement of the city, look no further than Dar Ayniwen.

3D Visit of Dar Ayniwen

The Lawrence of Morocco map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.

Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.

When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.

Dar Ayniwen Reviews

The owner too was very present and welcoming.

As a family we are not always easy to please, but it would be difficult to fault Dar Ayniwen in any respect -  beautiful suites, idyllic garden with baby tortoises and charming staff who find nothing too much trouble. The owner too was very present and welcoming. We had relaxing days by the pool and very enjoyable evenings in the medina.

Really good recommendation by your good self..

A wonderful building complimented by wonderful staff. A really good recommendation by your good self, in that it really is an oasis away from the madness of Marrakech.

A marvellous time at Dar Ayniwen.

We had a marvellous time at Dar Ayniwen, I can see why you like it so much. You feel like you are staying at a friend's rather lovely house, rather than a hotel. We thought it had bags of character and loved all the wonderful antiques. The gardens are absolutely lovely,  with masses of space to lounge around in.

Stephan, the owner was very helpful and all the staff are great. The shuttle bus into Marrakech was very helpful, and we used it it get into town for sightseeing and to go out for dinner. We booked one excursion from Souad to the waterfalls at Ouzoud, which were beautiful.

A great place to start the holiday.

Dar Ayniwen was a great place to start the holiday being able to relax in the gardens by the pool away from the hustle and bustle of the medina.  It was a great contrast actually to the medina.  The staff were very welcoming and friendly and your rep visited us there and was equally welcoming, friendly and informative.

Continental breakfasts were excellent!

Dar Ayniwen was gorgeous and Stephan and his team were very helpful. We couldn't have had a more wonderful hotel, the only slight downside was the price of the food & drinks which was higher than similar luxury Riads in town. Continental breakfasts were excellent!

I really wouldn't want to stay anywhere but Dar Ayniwen in Marrakesh!

We are so glad you suggested we stay at Dar Ayniwen rather than a larger hotel. The house and gardens are really gorgeous and you have this lovely sense of staying in a beautiful private house which was so relaxing .

We can't speak highly enough of Stefan , Aziz and all the staff. Each member of the team couldn't do enough for us and were so kind and helpful , particularly to our daughter , Zara. The food was superb at all times and we got some great recommendations for eating out too. It felt great to be somewhere where Zara could safely wander around the grounds on her own with no concerns .

I really wouldn't want to stay anywhere but Dar Ayniwen in Marrakesh!

We liked returning to the peace after the bustle of the Medina.

The Dar Ayniwen was very welcoming, particularly as we were given the top floor rooms with our own lovely sitting room.
Aziz the manager must be worth his wait in gold to the owners he was so charming, he could not have been more helpful never wilthout a smile and seemingly genuine interest in our well being.
We liked returning to the peace after the bustle of the Medina.
