Morocco brims over with contrast, colour and mystery. The savage beauty of its landscape, the drama of its souks and kasbahs and the warmth of its people seem to occupy a realm. The assault on your senses starts soon after you arrive. You catch the scent of fresh mint or the sizzle of kofta on a brazier… you hear the wail of the muezzin... you feel the heat of the African sun on your back and the silkiness of a tadlakt floor under your feet.
Wherever you are, your imagination takes a leap. You may catch a glimpse of the cloud-veiled Rif Mountains, the first of three mountain ranges that slice sideways across the country and culminate in the High Atlas. Beyond lie oases planted with pomegranate and palm trees, crumbling kasbahs and a desert landscape where the air is luminous, the silence total. You may be seduced by Morocco’s beaches. On the tip of Africa, where the Mediterranean merges with the Atlantic, you will find two strikingly different coastlines and all the tranquillity (or activity) you could wish for.
