Morocco is one of the best places in Africa to surf. The stunning Atlantic coastline and empty beaches provide perfect conditions for professionals and beginners alike. There are several surf spots, such as Oualidia and Taghazoute, where surfing is possible year-round. With its shallow lagoon and gentle waves Oualidia is the perfect place to learn. Surfland – set up in Oualidia in the late 1980's – are ideal instructors. Children can stay in a well-equipped, safe, supervised camp. If you prefer, you can stay in the Hotel Hippocampe or La Sultana Hotel while your children attend a half or full day’s course. Wind-surfing and other beach sports are possible in many locations along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
Kite surfing in Morocco is a dream with spots like Essaouira and Dakhla the option are endless. If it is just a few days break with some surfing then logistically speaking you are better off heading for Essaouira as it is within easy access of Marrakech airport but if you have the time and are planning a nice long surf adventure then head right down south (by road or plane form Casablanca) to the desert ocean paradise of Dakhla where you will find teams of kite surfers traning and having a total pro-kite surf party!
