A lovely simple hotel in gardens located 2km outside the city walls of Taroudant.
ABOUT: An attractive blend of rustic, authentic Berber design and classy Arabic touches, the boutique ‘House of the Olives’ sits scenically inside four acres of beautiful grounds and gardens just 2km from Taroudant’s ancient walls. Beyond its dramatic cupola and entrance lobby are two pools, a spa and one of the Souss region’s finest restaurants.
ROOMS: Warmly decorated and boasting high-quality fixtures and fittings, the dozen bungalow-type rooms and eight suites are scattered around the greenery like far-flung seeds. Each is air-conditioned, and each has satellite TV and Wi-Fi access. Able to accommodate four, the suites offer greater space and comfort – especially the largest Senior versions – while the bungalows can take a third bed. Some quarters come with a shower; all have a bath.
FACILITIES: Amid the palm, papaya and olive trees, amid the rose bushes and pomegranate groves, is a 20m pool shaped like a Moorish gate. A heated Jacuzzi tempts guests into Zitoune’s compact spa, as do a hammam (steam bath), various massage treatments and henna offerings. Moroccan traditions mesh with European influences inside the hotel restaurant, which serves its acclaimed food – vegetarians are well catered for – on the terrace or in a lounge bar. That latter venue is also the place for late-night cocktails and shows by local musicians.
EXTRA INFO: The Dar’s attentive staff can organise half or full-day visits for guests to remote Berber villages or amazing kasbahs.
The Lawrence of Morocco map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
