Berbere Palace

South & Sahara desert hotels, Ouarzazate & Skoura

The Berbere Palace is built in the Kasbah style, with a mix of Berber and traditional crafts.

ABOUT

Ouarzazate isn’t only the ‘gateway to southern Morocco’, it’s also home to Atlas Studios, which are very popular with Hollywood film directors – hence the nickname ‘Ozzywood’.  And when the A-listers are in town, this large, five-star residence is where they stay.  Built glamorously on a high perch in the style of a kasbah (fort), it combines facilities with high-quality service, plus plenty of authentic Berber materials, crafts and artefacts.  The studios themselves are nearby, as is, just outside town, Kasbah de Taourirt – one of the fairest forts of them all.

ROOMS

Le Berbere has 240 air-conditioned rooms across five categories, from Superior Rooms up to the 130m² Suite Grand Vizier, for true kings of the castle.  All have a private verandah, satellite TVs, private bathrooms and Wi-Fi.  Luxury Rooms are bigger than Superiors (35m² compared to 27m²), and also tend to have garden views.

FACILITIES

This is a hotel that does downtime well: there’s a large (unheated) outdoor pool, and a full-service spa offering massage, a sauna, a Jacuzzi and a traditional Moroccan hammam.  A trio of restaurants offer French, Italian and Moroccan cuisine respectively, while sipping cocktails in the cosy piano bar is the evening activity of choice.

EXTRA INFO

The amenities don’t end there: you’ve also got a library, a tennis court and a barbecue to enjoy.  Not to mention a currency-exchange.  There’s even a hair salon; but don't expect a decent haircut!

The Lawrence of Morocco map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.

Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.

When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
